Organising and assembling shots into sequences and bringing those sequences together to make a programme is a special skill. Each shot has been carefully crafted, each sound skilfully recorded. When theyre combined by our editing team, they create a unique blend of effects, a distinct, homogeneous experience in which seemingly disparate elements merge into a single flow.
Producer, editors, animators, dubbing mixers – all bring their specific talents to bear to fine tune a programme in which every single effect counts.
The original Digi Beta camera tapes are logged on computer to identify each original shot very precisely. The material is transferred into digital form and edited in a non-linear way on a computer-based editing system such as AVID. The digitised shots are assembled into a rough-cut (or off-line edit). Its an activity that calls for both technical and creative flair.
From an agreed off-line, the video goes on-line in a fully equipped edit suite with all the necessary visual effects, colour correction and on-line captions.
The digital audio files from the off-line are transferred to an on-line dubbing theatre to put the finishing touches to the soundtrack. This session concentrates on optimising the live sound from filming sessions and adding other layers of effects to enhance the realism of the presentation and create textures which complement and reinforce the visual images.
Our normal recording format is Digital Betacam, the industry standard. We can however make copies on almost anything you require. Projects are often copied to VHS for distribution but, increasingly, clients are opting for DVD, CD-ROM or on-line delivery. Whichever alternative you prefer, Callisto can produce creative, attractive, innovative packages which meet and exceed your needs.![]()
