Erika – The Black Tide
This 30-minute documentary tells the story of the tanker Erika which sank off the French coast and spilled a huge quantity of oil into the sea. It paints a picture of the impact on local communities and businesses and describes the extensive clean-up operation designed to bring the coastline back to normal. The programme features material shot over a period of about a year, on land, at sea and from the air.

A first class piece of work, and the film is exactly what we hoped for. The quality of the journalism, the detailed content and the presentational aspects are all excellent. We are still screening this video to various audiences, at many locations around the world; it is always well received and generates considerable interest.
Callisto were rigorous in their approach and their research was thorough and disciplined. What we most appreciated, however, was the fact that they fulfilled our expectations whilst at the same time bringing invaluable objectivity and independence to the project. This sense of perspective shows through and is most impressive in the finished work.
In post-production Callisto edited together a vast range of footage to produce a really well structured, multi-layered programme. ![]()
