Erika – The Black Tide
This 30-minute documentary tells the story of the tanker ‘Erika’ which sank off the French coast and spilled a huge quantity of oil into the sea. It paints a picture of the impact on local communities and businesses and describes the extensive clean-up operation designed to bring the coastline back to normal. The programme features material shot over a period of about a year, on land, at sea and from the air.
